What is threading?

It is a hair removal technique. Threading removes the entire hair follicle, lasting up to 6 weeks. The Arabic word for threading is 'Khite'; in Egypt it is also called 'Fatlah'.

DEE uses a doubled-up strand of cotton thread to twist around individual hairs, then pulls them out from the roots. The procedure is used mainly on the eyebrows and upper lip.

The discomfort is similar to tweezing, but the process is much, much quicker. Some people say they have very little pain from threading, but it has a lot to do with the skill of the technician. Unlike tweezing, where single hairs are pulled out one at a time, threading can remove an entire row of hair, resulting in a straighter line. Because a large area of hair is removed at once, it could be painful, but when done professionally "with a cat's cradle of fine thread" it can be quick and painless.

Please note that it can be hard to find someone experienced threading hair. It's a true art that has been passed down through the generations, and isn't something you can easily learn in a couple classes- especially to do brow shaping.

If hair is broken from an inexperienced threading professional, hair re-growth will show up much quicker. Need more information? Call 07954601891
